I didn't realize Sylvia and Danny's actual relationship until the Valentine's segment, I thought Sylvia was Danny's grandmother for most of the chapter. I am Harold from that one meme phrase. Didn't expect the events to line up so well with the publishing date. Looking forward to when we see the castle itself, liking the build up.
And with the relationship between this and Dracula it's interesting to already see parallels to the equivalent section in Dracula. Vane has a much better perception amongst people than Dracula, and we have more focus on the locals as individual characters.
I really love the way you describe the scenery and surroundings in this chapter, especially the smaller details like the horned figure (starting to think Victor is correct about this island not being Christian at all). I'm looking forward to Victor meeting Lord Vane, and in the meantime I'm enjoying his interactions with Sylvia and Danny (poor little Victor has never seen lesbians before, bless him). I'm loving everything so far! Also i love Turnip :3
It took me a long time to love the part of me that was stranger and more pagan than Christianity. I hope Father Arelian gets the chance to do so as well! <3
have been excited to read "what manner of man" since I first heard of it, while it was coming out, and finally finally got the chance to start it. im only two chapters in and already bouncing off the walls, telling all my friends about it! I love the lush and gorgeous prose, father ardelian's earnestness (and naivete hahaha), the uncanny and haunting vibes of the town, and especially the details on theology! (I loved getting to learn a bit about the origins of valentine's day.) And Sylvia and Danny are so sweet <3
truly this book feels as if it was made to grip me by the heart. so excited to see what happens next <3 <3

Harold...
Harold!
I made something of a pterodactyl noise upon reaching the end of the email (in frustration, at its end), I am amused to admit.
TESTIMONAILS! (Don't worry more is coming soon)
XD YAYYYYYYY!

It’s “cappello” if you’re writing an Italian word, not “capello” (which instead means “hair”)
P.s. I’m late to the party but really enjoying this!
Thanks! I thought I'd double checked that but I guess I copied it down wrong.
