As serious as this chapter is I also got a good chuckle out of Silas talking about Victor, especially him being 'blind as a bat' towards flirting. Diagnosed too hot for the priesthood.
Seriously though the tension is going up and you just had to throw in that reminder of the mystery of how these documents got compiled. At the very least it seems doubtful to me that Victor is leaving the island.
The Monster Manor is a bit too big for my taste in discords, but I enjoyed looking at their rec list, felt like the exact sort of thing I was looking for. And I liked how their new user process involved selecting the monsters you're into.
Okay, Silas' thoughts on Victor made me grin. I love outside POV, and it's so funny to me that Silas thought he was hot but innocent looking, and with a butt that could drive a man to sin, so to speak. I like the contrast to Victor now, who has been hardened and sharpened by his experiences. Silas is the perfect POV to really point that out, since it's really on the outskirts of the entire thing.
After 25 chapters of Victor's dramatical and flowery prose, getting the POV of someone who writes like a regular person is like being dunked in ice water. I had to sit there for a moment just going '??????'
