This chapter was great! I loved Turnip being a turnip thief (something I’m very familiar with), Danny and Sylvia, the mention of archaeology (I’m not biased at all *sweats in archaeologist*), and the queer little island itself. Can’t wait for the Lord Vane reveal!
Lord Vane is certainly keeping Father Ardelian waiting. And wow, Ardelian was clearly repressed from the start, but it's showing even more now. I like being able to see the difference between what he writes to himself and to his sister, and then there's the layer of what he didn't write down. I wonder if we're going to get any 'Dracula fed on Jonathan' type implications/theories.
I love how Victor is becoming more and more distraught as he waits to meet Lord Vane, and the irony of his hope that Lord Vane will somehow save him from this. I also love the overlap between the language Victor uses when wishing for divine forgiveness in that final journal entry, and the language often used when talking about physical intimacy ("embracing", "consummation" (especially in terms of marital sex), "ecstatic", "I open my mouth and pant", "longing", etc.), and I love how Victor seems to have absolutely zero awareness of this. It makes his shocked reaction to seeing the fisherman that much funnier and borderline hypocritical. Can't wait for more! <3
"Oh no, gay feelings! I better gaze upon Jesus' sexy, sexy body. Maybe if he wrapped his bare arms around me and held me against his naked pecs, I would feel better." Oh, buddy...

Also those fishermen should have gotten a room.
Playing with the difference in tone between the diaries and letters is so much fun!!

Yes, Father, please confess to us how your body reacts and how you can't stop thinking of it!
