Ooh, *mocking sing song voice* someone purposefully tried to destroy their own writing because they're embarrassed about how horny they are.
On a serious note, it is interesting that a meeting as important to the story as this isn't being shown. Obviously depends on what the chapter after this is like, but I wonder if we're about to get some 'lacunae in epic poem' vibes. As a fan of the meta fiction angle I hope we do. And hope we see more of the lesbians, but could also see them mostly vanishing from the narrative past this point. Have an odd theory about them I'm not entirely committed to.
I'm only getting to this almost 2 months after this chapter went up, but it was worth the wait. When I picture Lord Vane on his horse, he reminds me of the horsemen of the apocalypse, of Death. I also loved the detail of Turnip suddenly lashing out at Lord Vane's approach, like there's such a darkness about him that it touches everything around him. Can't wait to see how Victor will inevitably be affected by it later on (if he isn't already). I'm also looking forward to finding out why Lord Vane made Victor wait for so long, but part of me thinks we'll never get a real explanation for that. Can't wait to catch up on the rest!
Also crazily curious what she's going to do with those potato peels, as wasting food can be anathema before post WWII prosperity. The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society came to mind, and it was a sweet reminder!

love this scene, somewhat reminded me of prince Lear from the last unicorn speaking with molly grue
That’s one of the nicest things anyone’s ever said to me

OH VICTOR, you are so thirsty 🤤🤤🤤
I just have to say, as a gay man I absolutely understand Victor's insatiable thirst. Give in, my man. Just give in. <3
